It’s 2018 and what can I say other than Latinas are making moves and getting noticed! Everyday over the course of the last few years, I stumble upon an article about Latinas and many of them say the same thing in regard to how far we’ve come yet we still have much more to accomplish. As a Latina in today’s society, I couldn’t agree more and now more than ever, I want to somehow have a part in helping other Latinas grow and share what I have learned over the years with all of you.

I started blogging three years ago and because of it, I have “virtually” met so many other amazing and inspiring Latinas from all over the United States and Puerto Rico. We are leaving our footprint everywhere we go because we are determined and motivated to succeed and we love to help influence others. Let’s face it, we continue to push forward, be independent and thanks to social media we can make an impact on millions of other people.

I had the extreme privilege of being able to review the most recent copy of The Nielsen Company’s Latina 2.0 report and when I was done reading, I couldn’t help but to feel even more proud to be LATINA. The fact of the matter is that we are evolving and we are helping others make consumer decisions every day. Not only do we help to financially lead our households, we love to share our cultures and value the importance of building communities, understanding economics, maintaining our own sense of style and beauty plus so much more. The woman behind this amazing Latina 2.0 report will be disclosing some highlights of the report at the 15th annual Latinas and Power Symposium which is taking place on Thursday, May 17th, 2018. I am super excited because this will be my first time attending the Latina and Power symposium. I cannot wait to get there and listen to her present along with the many other awesome line up of speakers.

The Latina 2.0 report is the sixth report on Hispanic consumers in Nielsen’s Diverse Intelligence Series. The report provides updates and extends beyond the scope of Latina Empowerment and advancement within our families, communities and to women of every race and ethnicity. The data from the report shows that our strength continues to grow as we establish our role in the future of the American economy. As the US evolves from a manufacturing based economy to consumer centric economy, we are socially conscious, connected to our culture and in charge of our finances.

Today we have Latina news correspondents who are busy fighting for our rights. We have more Latina television producers in the entertainment industry, business owners and so much more. There are so many amazing Latinas that I would consider incredible role models. The majority of the television shows that I have been loving lately each have a latina actress all of whom have been my favorite thus far. It’s exciting to watch our fellow latinas pursue their dreams while they help to influence us to pursue ours. Exhilarating is an understatement when I listen to the speeches that our Latinas give when they win an award, share inspirational quotes that they refer to when seeking motivation all while inspiring others.

Fact: Latinas outpaced the total U.S. population for new business creation according to the U.S. Census. While the total number of female majority-owned firms grew 27% during the last five-year period, Hispanic female majority-owned firms grew in number by more than 682,000 or 87% during same period.

I am so fortunate to have so many beautiful and inspiring women in my family. It is important to have women in your inner circle that you can talk to and with whom you can relate no matter what the topic. They have all supported me in reading my blog and many of them look to me as a resource for many things. The same applies with friendships because as we become adults and our circle of friends becomes smaller, we need that sense of support and community to help keep each other motivated especially during hard times.

Fact: Latinas have become a primary consumer focus of the beauty industry as sales made by hispanics have increased year after year.

I rely on my fellow Latinas to share their reviews of new beauty products, trendy new outfits and where I can find them at the best prices. Let’s just all admit we love to shop! I think it’s in our genes lol no pun intended. In my family, my great grandmother loved to shop, as does my grandma, my mom and my aunts. As consumers, I believe that most us Latinas are true bargain shoppers. I don’t know about you but I will check all the sales online and via the apps on my phone before spending my hard-earned money. In the past, I have shared my favorite shopping tips and tricks on my blog as I want to help other women especially those who are moms get the best deals possible.

Fact: As we all know, communication is important for Latinas and we prefer a smartphone as our techy device. We spend an average of 22 hours per week watching videos, using apps and surfing the web on their smartphones.

I like to consider myself somewhat of a tech geek as I am always ready to learn new tips and tricks. Social media provides so many positive ways for bringing people together. I look forward to interacting with everyone on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter every day. I have made so many amazing connections with other awesome Latinas. I love catching up on the latest videos from my favorite channels on YouTube while also using it to learn something new at the same time.

Because of social media, I have learned so much from other more experienced bloggers. The most important thing that I have learned is that we want everyone to know that a strong community triumphs competition every time. Because of social media, I have been given this amazing opportunity to share my thoughts here with you. With that said, I hope that you all have enjoyed my post. I cannot wait to attend the Latinas and Power Symposium. I hope to see you all again except next time it will be over at my blog. Until next time… Mitzi
