TECHNOLOGY

The STEM Journey: “Where are the Latinas?” Challenges and Opportunities

While Latinas have made progress in penetrating the nation’s tech industry, we still have a significantly inadequate representation in STEM jobs at the local and national levels. What can we do? Reversing the exclusion from tech occupations is critical. This “fireside chat” will address the underlying gender disparity, ethnic inequality concerns, and important steps that can be taken to close the gap. You will have an opportunity to share your ideas, challenges, and how this important topic is related to Diversity and Inclusion efforts in the workplace.

Presented by:

  • Tara Long, CIO, Institutional Solutions, MassMutual
  • Dr. Nilanjana (Buju) Dasgupta, UMASS professor of Psychological & Brain Science and Director of UMASS Faculty Equity & Inclusion and Diversity Sciences.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Overcoming the Imposter

This session is geared towards mobilizing women to take off the mask and confidently step into their purpose. Michelle Obama brought back the term “Imposter Syndrome,” which means, “not being good enough and feeling like a fraud.” Women experience feelings of being a “fraud” just as often as men do and are likely to have recurrences when they make a mistake, end a relationship, lose a job, terminate a business, or decide to have a family. This is a journey to self-discovery and knowing that we have the power to collectively impact the world around us when we embrace our failures and celebrate our successes.

Presented by:

  • Angelica Ogando, Peak Performance Coach for Leadership
